St. Joseph's, No Problem

Brittany Zamora had a game-high 21 points and 5 assists

IRVING, Texas – The Howard Payne Lady Jackets easily cruised past St. Joseph's College of Brooklyn 89-38 on day two of the University of Dallas Tournament. 

Howard Payne was hot from behind the arc with 11 of 21 shooting for 52%, but was 20 of 34 (58%) from the free-throw line. 

The Lady Jackets started the game with a 12-0 run and never looked back. Continuing to roll HPU held a 40-13 halftime advantage. 

More the same in the second half lead to Howard Payne's biggest victory of the year, 89-38. Every Lady Jacket saw plenty of action in the blowout win. Howard Payne did out rebound St. Joseph's 43-30 and forced 25 turnovers. 

St. Joseph's was led by Melissa Velez with 12 points. Julia Serewko grabbed a game high 9 rebounds. 

Brittany Zamora led all scorers with 21 points and 5 assists. Zamora was 5 of 6 from behind the arc in the game. Katy Sarem followed with 15 points and 4 steals. Hope Hohertz and Kelsey Miller each added 11 points each. Hohertz did not miss a shot in the game, 3 of 3 from the field and 4 of 4 from the free-throw line. 

The Lady Jackets improve to 11-1 while St. Joseph's falls to 6-5 overall. HPU will play next on January 8 on the road against the University of Texas – Tyler.
