Women's Tennis Falls To UTPB

STEPHENVILLE, Texas - The Howard Payne University women's tennis team dropped their second straight match in a 6-3 outing versus the University of Texas - Permian Basin Saturday afternoon.

Howard Payne had to battle back after dropping all three doubles matches to start the game. The number one double match was one of the closest on the day with Gabi Crunelle and Joan Burks falling narrowly 9-8 (7-5).

The Lady Jackets picked up all three of their point in third sets. Gabi Crunelle defeated UTPB's Shotwell 1-6, 7-5, 10-6 in the number one singles. In number five singles Whitney Turnacliff defeated Farmer (UTPB) 4-6, 6-2, 10-8 and in number six singles Stephanie Stokes defeated Mitchell (UTPB) 1-6, 6-3, 10-8.

Howard Payne will have their next match on Feb. 17th in Sherman, Texas versus Austin College at 2:00 pm.
