Women's Soccer Picked 7th In ASC Pre-season Poll

RICHARDSON, Texas –– The Howard Payne University women's soccer team was ranked seventh in the 2010 American Southwest Conference pre-season poll, it was announced on Thursday by the ASC office after a vote of the league's head coaches and sports information directors.

The Lady Jackets narrowly missed the ASC post-season tournament last season with an 8-8-2 overall record and 6-5-2 in league action. HPU returns a solid group along with one of the largest recruitment classes in the program's history. The Lady Jackets will be led by returners Leslie Jones 1st Team All-Conference forward and HM All-Conference defenders Emily Nutt and Anna McCay.

The 2010 ASC season – the 15th in league history – begins as early as September 1. The six-team, single-elimination ASC tournament is slated for November 5-7 at the site of the regular season champion and an automatic berth into the NCAA Division III Women's Soccer Championship will be on the line.
