Volleyball Picked 6th in Pre-season ASC Poll

RICHARDSON, Texas –– Howard Payne University was pre-season picked to finish sixth in the 2010 American Southwest Conference pre-season volleyball poll, it was announced by the ASC office on Tuesday after a vote of each division’s head coaches and sports information directors.
The Lady Jackets finished last season with a 12-17 overall record and went 8-10 in ASC play. HPU returns a solid core of its team this season headed by 1st Team All-West Division OH Tamika Heline.
Howard Payne will open up the 2010 season in Norfolk, VA at the Virginia Wesleyan College Tournament on September 3rd. They will return to Texas with the first home contest on September 8th versus Texas Lutheran University.
The 2010 ASC season – the 15th in league history – begins as early as September 1. The six-team, single-elimination ASC tournament is slated for November 5-6 at the site of the West Division champion and an automatic berth into the NCAA Division III Women’s Volleyball Championship will be on the line.
