SB Adds Two To 2010 Class

BROWNWOOD, Texas – The Howard Payne softball program today announced the verbal commitment of two more players to the 2010 recruitment class.

Jessica Morales and Carissa Zarate have met all HPU admissions requirements and decided to continue their playing careers at Howard Payne University this next fall.

Jessica Morales
Jessica Morales of Coleman, Texas, is a four year starter at Coleman High School. She has received 2nd Team All-District her freshman and sophomore year. She was also a 1st Team All- District selection as a junior. Jessica has played travel club ball for several years. An Academic All-District honoree, she is also involved in Student Council, Supportive Peer program, and a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. She plans to major in Education at Howard Payne.

Clarissa Zarate
Carissa Zarate is also from Coleman, Texas and a four year starter at Coleman High School. Her freshman through junior year she was named 1st Team All-District. Her sophomore year she was also named Honorable Mention All-State as a third baseman. She has also been named to many all-tournament teams and plays select ball for Texas Fury. Last season, Carissa had a batting average of .513, and an on base pct. of .558 with 35 RBIs. Carissa plans on being a softball coach after graduation and majoring in Exercise and Sport Science.
