BROWNWOOD, TX…It was announced today that 16 Yellow Jacket Athletes have been honored as a National Student-Athlete. Student-athletes who where honored hold a 3.0 cumulative GPA (grade point average) and must be actively involved in the community.
National Student-Athlete (NSA) Day has become a nationally celebrated day to honor student-athletes who have achieved excellence in the classroom, on the field and in the community. NSA Day is co-sponsored by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and National Federation of State High School Association. Since 1997, over 2 million college and high school student athletes have received recognition on NSA Day.
The following Howard Payne Athletes were recipients of this award: Jennifer Alexander – Women's Basketball; Molly Buker – Women's Basketball; Kami Collins – Women's Basketball; Chelsey Densman – Softball; Jason Elmer – Football; Angie Evans – Women's Basketball; Heather Hohertz – Women's Basketball; Jenny Janda – Women's Basketball; Jonathan Jones – Men's Tennis; Kasi McCain – Softball; Christian McDaniel – Football; Candra McKee – Softball; Jill McLaughlin – Softball; Rachel Offineer - Women's Basketball; Stephanie Ortiz - Women's Tennis; Jennifer Wallenmeyer – Women's Basketball.
