Jackets Honored For Sportsmanship

RICHARDSON, Texas –– The Howard Payne University and Louisiana College men's basketball teams, and the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and LeTourneau University women's basketball teams are the winners of American Southwest Conference Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Team Sportsmanship Awards for winter sports, the conference office announced on Wednesday.

The Howard Payne men finished 14-13 on the season making the American Southwest Conference tournament for the second time in three years. The Yellow Jackets knocked off the #1 seat Mississippi College in the first round before falling to Concordia University Texas.

The Howard Payne men and Mary Hardin-Baylor women represented the West Division, while the Louisiana College men and LeTourneau women took honors in the East Division.

The award, in its first academic year, honors the member institution in each ASC championship sport that best displays positive qualities of sportsmanship and fair play from its student-athletes, coaches and fans throughout the season. The Student-Athlete Advisory Committees from the conference's 15 member institutions vote on the recipients.
